November 2019 Vote No New Taxes

Protect Our Neighborhoods
Vote NO Stanton Measures A & B

Vote NO on Measure A
Stanton Measure A will promote a "black market" of illegal pot sales and illegal activity in our residential neighborhoods, apartment complexes, condo associations, mobile home parks, etc. And our city attorney already said "All revenue from this tax would be deposited into the City’s General Fund and could be used for general City operations and services..." so the tax will not be reserved for police or fire services. Vote No on Measure A and B. Keep our neighborhoods safe, keep our home values up, and no more taxes!

Protect Our Home Values
Vote NO Stanton Measures A & B

Vote NO on Measure B
Stanton Measure B is a tax on residential homes, mobile homes, and any building a person can stay in. It’s not just a tax on hotels. And our city attorney already said "All revenue from this tax would be deposited into the City’s General Fund and could be used for general City operations and services..." so the tax will not be reserved for police or fire services. Outsiders Invade Our City
Vote NO Stanton Measures A & B

Here we go again. Outsiders that don't live in Stanton, many of our own council members, and companies benefiting from doing business with City Hall all want to push forward their agenda with more city taxes on us Stanton residents. Take a look and see for yourself the list of outsiders, council members, and beneficaries that have been contributing money over the years to make us pay more and more and more...

Have We Been Misled Before?
Vote NO Stanton Measures A & B

Misled? Well, we uncovered our City Council taking $5,000,000 out of the general fund instead of using it for our 9-1-1 Safety Services. We uncovered our council paying $350,000 to our city manager for just 8 months of work. We uncovered that many of our own City Council Members have been funding campaigns to increase our taxes over many years. And now they pretend that we are out of money again. What else are they not telling us about? Think about it... can they be trusted?

Out Of Money Again
Vote NO Stanton Measures A & B

Look, the city’s finances are not your problem. Bottom line is that our City Council spent beyond their means again. Giving them more of your money is not going to solve their spending problem.

$350,000 Paid To City Manager?
Vote NO Stanton Measures A & B

No wonder we have no money. Our City Council paid our Stanton City Manager over $350,000 in 2018 according to Transparent California. But he only worked for 8 months! He worked 8 months and got paid $350,000! He did such a fine job that our city is out of money again so now we have two more taxes on our ballot this November! What is going on with our City Council? Click here and see for yourself...

$5 Million Payout?
Vote NO Stanton Measures A & B

Our City Council had plenty of money until they took $5,000,000 out of our general fund and sent it to CALPERS in April 2019. AND we were promised that our Stanton Utility Taxes and Stanton Sales Tax would both be used for 9-1-1 Safety Services! We are taxed 5% on all utilities (tap water, cell and home phones, electricity, gas) and 1% on all taxable sales to pay for Sheriff and Fire and our own City Council diverted our money again! $5 million! This is why we have no money again. Click here and see item 12A of the council meeting minutes for yourself.

Employee Salaries Too High?
Vote NO Stanton Measures A & B

Here is where our tax money is going... Our City Council is giving it away to many employees earning over $200,000 per year! Look, according to Transparent California City Hall paid out ONE MILLION DOLLARS to just 4 city employees in 2018! As a Stanton resident how can you afford to pay city employees over $200,000 a year when you aren't even making $200,000! Click here and see for yourself...

Stanton Can Cut Spending Even More

OC Fire Authrotiy Too Expensive
Vote NO Stanton Measures A & B

The City Of Placentia is going to save TWO MILLION DOLLARS or more by leaving the Orange County Fire Authority and establish its own city-run fire department. This is the same Fire Authority that our city uses. If we did the same as Placentia this could save us money and reduce our taxes. Click here and see how Placentia did it.

City Hall 3-Day Work Week
Vote NO Stanton Measures A & B

Did you know that Stanton City Hall is only open 10 days during December? Our city could save lots of money and reduce our city taxes if our administrative staff worked part-time 3 days a week. They already have every Friday off now. And since there are so many city holidays during the year they are basically only working part-time already anyway. Why pay for full-time staff if City Hall is not open full-time? Having a part-time staff 24-30 hours a week will save us money and reduce our taxes.

Homelessness Costs Too Much
Vote NO Stanton Measures A & B

How can our Sheriff's be effective if they are talking with the homeless all day long. Here is where we can save lots of money and reduce our taxes. The homeless are all over our city. There aren't any in Yorba Linda, Aliso Viejo, Villa Park, or Los Alamitos but we have plenty. If we put them in a camp like San Clemente did then they would all be in one place and easier to manage and take up less time away from our Sheriffs saving us money and reducing our taxes. Click here and see how San Clemente did it.

We Must Protect Prop 13

High Taxes, Decreased Revenue
Vote NO Stanton Measures A & B

Think about it. Would you go out of your way to shop in a city or county that has high sales tax or would you avoid it if you can? Well of course you would avoid it. High taxes and high fees make businesses increase their prices which push shoppers elsewhere leading to less than expected revenue. Our City Council thinks that if they keep taxing us more and more then they will get more tax money but this is just leading us to more and more taxes and more increased fees.

Defend Prop 13
Vote NO Stanton Measures A & B

Without Prop 13 your property taxes go up, home values down, apartment rents go up, mobile home rents go up, etc. This is obvious. Well, same goes when you increase taxes on your own property, right? Without Prop 13 people were getting taxed right out of their homes and these days apartment renters are getting pushed out to the streets with higher rents. Don't tax yourself any more.

WE Did It Before!
Vote NO Stanton Measures A & B

We won in 2012 by stopping the increase of our utility tax on our water, phones, electricity, and gas. The utility tax is 5% but our City Council tried to get us to increase it to 7.5% but we stopped them. And in 1997 our City Council wanted to put a tax on our property with a parcel tax and we stopped that one too. We won in 2012 and in 1997 and we will do it again.
